Paw Paw Tunnel (C&O Canal) and Cumberland

Woke up early to the bird, the sun haven`t clear the fog, but heck can't wait forever. I discover that if i set my gps for limited sped, 40 mph, and allow unpaved road, it can be my navigator. Wow, the damn thing took me down forest road after 5 miles or so, the road was washed out by a creek. After 45 miles of windy path, i travel what it would take 8 miles on the freeway. Made it to Hancock only to have the visitor center closed on monday. Discover a scenic route, route MD 144, which is part of the scenic Historic National Road. The National Road goes all the way to St Louis. Nobody was on that road. Cumberland visitor was very nice. End up at the Paw Paw tunnel and hike it, 1 km long. Met an interesting guy, mike, and bullshit about life and politics. We later share a camp site.
